About Our Affiliation

The Olive Branch Christian Fellowship has affiliated with Free Methodist Church of North America and taking its place within the group of Free Methodist Churches in Europe.

In November 2006, Jerry Coleman the Europe Area Director made Josh Fajardo in Madrid aware of the possible interest of affiliation by a group in Murcia, Spain. Information was sent to Pastor Ralph regarding the History of the Free Methodist Church. There were follow up phone calls and Ralph shared of his friendship with the Renewal Christian Centre, a Free Methodist Congregation in England. Pastor Richard Taylor of that congregation recommended that the group consider affiliating with the Free Methodist Church. Over the next six months, several more conversations took place. In May 2007 a letter sharing the fellowship's desire to begin the process was sent. By April 2009, the church received four separate visits by European leaders, for the purpose of informing the church leadership about FMC. In the first quarter of 2009, Pastor Ralph made four visits to Madrid in order to receive ordination classes.

In November 2009 Pastor Ralph and Margaret traveled to Budapest where Jerry is based to be re-ordinated into the Free Methodists. When they were back from Budapest the church was shown a video of Ralph's re-ordination which gave us an idea of the loving support this organization is giving to our Pastors and members. Ralph's re-ordination complete, it was arranged for Pastor Jerry from Budapest and Pastor Josh from Madrid to come to the Olive Branch and carry out an official affiliation with the whole church in attendance.

On December the 12 Pastors Jerry and Josh joined us for our Christmas Dinner. On Sunday 13 they joined us for the affiliation service. We had a full house. Thank you to everyone, members and other friends who came to support us. We really appreciate the love shown by you in this way. We were joined by Pastor Salvador and his wife Maria, from the Spanish Evangelical Church in the Port, and several of their church members. Pastor Salvador shared his vision for Spain and Maria sang to us. We had a wonderful time of worship and singing to the Lord. This was followed by communion and then we went into the formal part of the service which consisted of spoken agreement between Pastor Ralph, the church members and the Free Methodist leaders. Documents of affiliation were then signed by Jerry, Ralph, and the church leadership team. All the church members were then invited to come forward to stand at the front to join together in unity. When everyone had gone back to their seats Jerry spoke to us about the church worldwide being the Bride of Christ. He read from Rev 21: 1-4. There it speaks of a new heaven and a new earth, and describes God's people as like a beautiful bride, and God dwells with His people. Jerry took us back to his own wedding day 31 years ago. He got married in a beautiful building, but the only important thing on his mind was his beautiful bride. Jesus is like the groom to us His church and he waits lovingly for us. We need to love Christ in return and just as a bride prepares the best for her wedding so should we prepare ourselves for Jesus coming back. People are invited to a wedding and someone has to pay for it! Jesus wants everyone to come to His wedding and he has already paid the price in His death on the Cross. When our special service was finished we shared lunch together in the knowledge that we are officially part of the Free Methodist Church and are blessed by the great love of God.
